I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and your joy may be complete.
(Jn 15:11)
What is it?
Jesus said: “I am the Living Bread that came down from Heaven; if anyone eats of this Bread he will live forever;…he who eats My flesh and drinks My blood has eternal life and…abides in Me and I in him.” (Jn 6:51, 54, 56) (CCC 1406)
The Eucharist is the heart and the summit of the Church’s life, for in it Christ associates His Church and all Her members with His sacrifice of praise and thanksgiving offered once and for all on the cross to His Father; by His sacrifice, He pours out the grace of salvation on His Body, which is the Church. (CCC 1407)
Who may receive Christ in Eucharistic communion?
A person must be in a state of grace. Anyone aware of having sinned mortally must not receive communion without having received absolution in the sacrament of penance. (CCC 1415)
Why receive communion?
Communion with the Body and Blood of Christ increases the communicant’s union with the Lord, forgives his venial sins, and preserves him from grave sins. Since receiving the sacrament strengthens the bonds of charity between the communicant and Christ, it also reinforces the unity of the Church as the mystical Body of Christ. (CCC 1416)
Our church provides an opportunity for prayer and adoration of the Blessed Sacrament at a weekly adoration on Tuesdays from 8:30 am to 3 pm and on Fridays from 8:30 am to 7 pm in the Blessed Sacrament Chapel. The late Pope John Paul II said, “The Eucharist is our priceless treasure, and of all the devotions, that of Eucharistic adoration is the greatest after the Sacraments.” You are invited to make a commitment to Jesus to spend an hour in prayer before the Blessed Sacrament each week.
“The Catholic Church has always offered and still offers to the sacrament of the Eucharist the cult of adoration not only during Mass but also outside of it reserving the consecrated hosts with the utmost care exposing them to the solemn veneration of the faithful and carrying them in procession.” (CCC 1378)
ROSARY FOR LIFE
Every first Saturday of the Month, the Rosary for Life is prayed following the 8:00 am Mass in Church.
Scripture specifies the prohibition in the fifth commandment: “Do not slay the innocent and the righteous.” The deliberate murder of an innocent person is gravely contrary to the dignity of the human being, to the golden rule, and to the holiness of the Creator. The law forbidding it is universally valid: it obliges each and everyone, always and everywhere. (CCC 2261)
ROSARY AND NOVENA TO OUR LADY OF THE MIRACULOUS MEDAL
Every Monday at 7:00 pm a group of dedicated parishioners meet to pray the Rosary and a novena to Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal in the Blessed Sacrament Chapel. Please join us.
ST. BENEDICT MINISTRY (LECTIO DIVINA)
In accordance with the call from Pope Benedict XVI and the recent Synod on Scripture, this ministry is dedicated to helping our parishioners learn to pray with Sacred Scripture.
Ministry Leader: Mirna Gonzales
At every Mass, we pray for those souls who have gone before us!
